What are the Room Rates at Kernow?

Rates vary from $149 for a one-bedroom apartment to $280 for our Executive Apartment.  However, we regularly offer discounted rooms and other packages so it is worth contacting us direct.

What is included in the Room Rate?

All our apartments have their own kitchens and laundries so you have cooking and laundry facilities available to you free of charge.  Laundry powder is also included.  There is a resort-style saltwater swimming pool, and pool towels are provided. 

We provide complimentary breakfast packs of cereal, milk, juice and other items and will soon be offering cooked breakfasts.  Tea and coffee are available your own kitchen and we also supply coffee for the coffee-plunger.  All rooms have air-conditioning (cooling-only as it is rarely cold enough up here to warrant heating!), and there are flatscreen televisions in the lounge and bedrooms.  WiFi is free of charge, as are Netflix, YouTube and iView which are available in the lounge.  Terrestrial TV is available in the bedrooms. 

Who can stay at Kernow?

Kernow offers as much peace and quiet to guests as possible and as such only accepts children aged 12 and over.  This also applies to anyone coming onto the property.  We hope that guests and visitors appreciate that our guests often stay here because they know they will not be disturbed by children, so this restriction should be observed at all times, not just on an overnight basis.  Thanks for your understanding.

Do I have to pay a Security Deposit?

A:  The managers may obtain a pre-authorisation of one day’s room rate as a security deposit.

Are the rooms serviced?

A:   We refresh the rooms daily and replenish amenities, tidy, and empty bins where necessary.  Towels are replaced every three days, and linen every week, but other arrangements may be made depending on the length of your stay.

What is there to do at Kernow?

We aim to provide a relaxing and peaceful stay for our guests.  We are still early on in the development of the property but will gradually be adding leisure facilities.  Currently our guests just like to relax by the pool, on their decks or patios or at the pool (BYO) bar.  We currently have some running/walking and biking trails laid out, and soon we will offer other outdoor activities such as a recreational lake, clubhouse, restaurant and spa.  A range of tailor-made packages will also soon be available.

Yes.  In order to keep the surroundings peaceful for our guests we are happy to accommodate children who are age 12 and over.  There may be times, such as for special events in town or at the schools where this is relaxed to some degree, so please check with us in advance of your trip if you need to accommodate children aged between 7 and 12. 

We also do not accept pets for the same reason.  We love animals but they can be noisy, and messy!  Accommodation for pets can be arranged at the local kennels, Bark-A-Bit (07 4787 1679).

Are the apartments suitable for older people, or for wheelchair access?

Owing to the original design of the building, all the apartments have at least one or two steps up into them – most have around four, and not all stairways have handrails.  As a result these apartments are probably not suitable for those who have mobility issues.  However, we have already included plans for apartments and homes for disability access in future phases of the development.  The majority of our existing bathrooms do, however, have walk-in showers.

What restaurant facilities are there at Kernow?

Currently there is no restaurant, but we will soon have a breakfast area/café at the Main House where a buffet breakfast will be provided.  In the meantime, we provide daily complimentary light continental breakfast of cereal, toast, yoghurt and juice which is left in your room, and also have fresh supplies available for guests to cook in their own kitchens if given some notice (supplied at cost).  We can provide a range of basic cooking ingredients so that guests do not have to buy their own (oils, sauces, herbs etc).  Collection of takeaways from local restaurants by our staff is not a problem and we can arrange chargebacks if required.  A range of menus is on hand for you to order from.

We also hold regular BBQs by the pool for those who are interested in joining in.  Guests will be advised of dates on Check-In and can book themselves in for a feast!

How long can I stay at Kernow?

Our usual length of stay is between one and 21 nights.  We can provide packages for stays longer than three nights so please do contact us for details.

What time is Check In and Check Out?

Normally 2pm and 11am, but we are pretty flexible if rooms are available.  Very late Check-Ins should be advised to ensure access is made as simple as possible.

What are the parking facilities like?

Each apartment has a double parking space.  They are not covered, but that means you keep your lovely open views!  Hard-stands for trailers and caravans can be arranged at other areas on the property on request.

Is Kernow Haunted?

No!  Kernow is one of the most relaxing and peaceful places we know.

Can guests have a look around the property?

Yes, by all means.  However, for access to the older existing buildings please request approval first as for safety reasons you may need to be accompanied.  Guests are welcome to stroll around the grounds and, once prepared, use our walking and cycling tracks.  We are very happy to arrange viewings of the other buildings at a pre-arranged time.

Can I smoke in the apartments or grounds of Kernow?

Primarily this is non-smoking venue but we do not mind guests smoking on their deck or patio as long as butts are discarded only in the butt bins provided, and that these are left outside, and also if other guests are not disturbed by smoke.  A minimum charge of $500 will be levied for cleaning should there be any evidence of smoking having taken place inside.

Is there 24-hour access and assistance at Kernow?

People are free to come and go as they please as long as they do not disturb other guests.  At night please drive very slowly as there is a lot of wildlife around the grounds.  A manager is on-site 24/7 to handle any queries and can be contacted by ringing the main number 0447 557 200.
